As I dropped my daughter off at school this morning, she whisper-screamed, “Oh My God, only 2 more days 'til I'm a senior!” while closing the car door. I drove away dreaming of lazy summer days, sleep-away camp, staying in bed until 9, lounging by the pool...
Then it occurred to me: THAT WAS NOT GOING TO BE MY SUMMER!!
What happened to those summers?? When did summer become the perfect time to squeeze in and catch up with anything forgotten, put-off, and ignored during the rest of the year? You know what I mean! Dentist appointments; closet purging; yearly physicals complete with proof of pertussis vaccination. Then add the pressure of senior summer: the common app, college tours, deadline charts, online health classes, drivers license, senior portraits, blah, blah, blah, need more money, blah, blah, blah, need more time, blah, blah, BLAH…
BREATHE.
First thing's first, I needed to figure out dinner. I think I’ll keep it simple and just serve chicken nuggets.
I remember those days. They're so wasted on kids.
ReplyDeleteWish I read your post before I was struggling about what to make for dinner.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the dipping sauces; they can cover up most things distasteful.
